Pashinyan justifies the surrender of territories in Kirants by the construction of a wall, political scientist Robert Margaryan told Alpha News.

“What happened in Kirants was clear, Azerbaijan demanded these territories, agreed with Nikol that they should be surrendered, and he surrendered them. For that, he needed to find an excuse. He justifies his decision by calling it the construction of a wall, which has no significance in terms of security,” Margaryan said.

According to the political scientist, people lived safely in Kirants because they were sure that the state had their back.

“Pashinyan should remember how many incidents there were in the direction of Kirants before 2018 and how safe this territory was. Now, after the construction of this wall, will security be ensured? Security ceased to exist from the day they came to power, surrendered Artsakh, and brought Azerbaijan to Kirants. Living in the border area, children always went to school, and people lived safely and did not have any problems because they were sure that the government and the state were behind them and would protect this border in every possible way.

The construction of this wall is done for show. If Pashinyan really thinks that he can establish such security, he should ensure it in Syunik, withdraw the Azerbaijanis who are in our territories from there,” Robert Margaryan concluded.
