Alpha News spoke with US immigration lawyer Tehmina Avagyan about the immigration situation in the United States. According to her, people are worried and seeking legal assistance more frequently.

“The workload for lawyers has increased significantly recently. Large-scale raids have started in Los Angeles over the past ten days. They used to happen before, but they were more localized. Initially, it was assumed that only criminals would be deported, but in practice, everything turned out differently. Many individuals who had no criminal record or even traffic violations have also been deported,” Avagyan said.

She noted that crossing the border without a visa, green card, or passport is illegal and subjects the individual to deportation.

“Today, absolutely everyone is worried—both students and green card holders. People are panicking, even though their status formally should not cause concern. Green card holders should only be worried if they committed a crime. If a person has no problems with the law, then there is no reason to worry. As for the deprivation of a green card and deportation, this is only possible if it was obtained fraudulently,” the lawyer emphasized.
