Car arson is just an episode, there are prerequisites that this series will continue – Manuk Sukiasyan

This was a pathetic attempt to create an atmosphere of fear and silence opponents, Manuk Sukiasyan, the head of the Mother Armenia faction of the Yerevan City Council, said in an interview with Alpha News, commenting on the recent arson attack on a car belonging to the family of faction member Gevorg Stepanyan.

According to him, these days it is easy to identify the perpetrators and those who ordered such actions.

“It can be assumed that an attempt to cover up the incident will be made on orders from higher authorities. The ball is now in the court of law enforcement agencies, and we must wait for the case to be solved as soon as possible.

Nervous behavior indicates that they are struggling to manage the situation. They have become the reacting party, while the opposition—particularly within the city council—has taken the initiative in shaping events. In addition to politics, when opposition activities acquire a clear social focus, it is the turn of manifestations of corruption in power, embezzlement, and misappropriation of funds. In such cases, the authorities experience cognitive dissonance, and the reaction becomes eccentric, hysterical—starting from city council meetings and ending with various platforms. In particular, this is expressed in the incitement of fake accounts on social media, physical assaults, and arson attempts on vehicles.

This series is not new, and something similar will continue. There is every reason to believe that the specific beneficiary of these developments is the government, with Nikol Pashinyan at the center of it all,” Manuk Sukiasyan added.
