The text of the oath, in effect, is proposed to have the wording of the national goal removed from it. This was stated by Aram Vardevanyan, member of the National Assembly from the Armenia faction, at a session of the National Assembly, commenting on the changes to the text of the oath, stressing that the ruling authorities, who have advocated for democracy for years, are effectively eliminating wording that reflects the state’s highest orientation and fundamental obligations.

According to him, the authorities, who over the past eight years have constantly declared democratic values, are removing the most important components of obligations to the people from the text of the oath.
