“Frankly speaking, the opposition has gone too far, and this cannot go unaddressed.” This statement was made from the National Assembly podium by Hasmik Hakobyan, deputy from the “Civil Contract” faction.

“So, a month and a half has passed since parliament began its work. Whatever our women say, they [the opposition] respond: it’s a shame you’re a woman, or we’d answer you properly. What issue do you have with our sex, dear opposition gentlemen? There’s no need to single women out by gender for the sake of respect. If you have such chivalrous attitudes, why are you sitting right now? After all, if a woman is standing, a man should stand too. And he should only sit once the woman has sat down. So from now on, if you’re going to display such chivalry, please stand when we stand, and don’t sit down until we sit down,” she noted.
