Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan has described the drug-related incident at a school in the village of Mkhchyan, located in Armenia’s Ararat region, as horrific.
It should be noted that recently reports emerged that high school students at a rural school tied up two fourth-grade students and forced them to try drugs.
“Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the case. I hope that once the investigation is complete, we will have answers to all questions related to this incident. Such situations are unacceptable, and not only law enforcement agencies have to work on this issue. We, in turn, need to figure out in great detail what actions the school should have taken because such incidents do not happen in one day,” the minister said in response to a question from Alpha News.
Andreasyan listed the steps the government should take in the future to prevent the spread of drugs.
The Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings in connection with the incident, with four individuals implicated in the case. One person has been issued an arrest warrant, while educational and administrative supervision has been applied to two individuals as a preventive measure. Additionally, one person has been placed under house arrest.
