Iran will definitely respond, Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan told Alpha News, commenting on the growing tensions between Iran and Israel.

“There are several possible scenarios. They can be divided into two groups: the first is an immediate, sharp and large-scale response; the second is in the Iranian style—slower and more calculated—allowing for a strike without escalating into a full-scale war,” he noted.

According to him, one must not forget that on the one hand there is military action, and on the other, there is a negotiation process.

“It is no coincidence that immediately after the Israeli strikes, the US stated that it remains open to negotiations. Obviously, the positions at the negotiating table will be different now,” Geghamyan added.

Geghamyan also believes that events could spread beyond Iran.

“The most vulnerable area is Syunik. If you look at the map, it becomes clear that Turkish armed forces are present along the border of Armenia and Iran. Given that Turkey and Azerbaijan openly lay claim to Syunik and pursue policies aimed at taking it by force, and this region is also important for Iran, tensions surrounding Iran could provide Turkey and Azerbaijan an opportunity to advance their ambitions regarding Syunik,” the Turkologist emphasized.
