For the first time in the history of Glendale, California, a person of Armenian descent has assumed the position of chief of police. Robert William became the city’s 21st chief of police.

“I am proud to be the first Armenian to serve as Glendale’s chief of police. But my goal was never to be the first, my goal has always been to keep the city safe,” he said.

According to Robert William, his Armenian identity has played an important role in his life: “At home, we always spoke Armenian.”

He also emphasized that his appointment can serve as an example for young people, showing that such a path is possible for everyone.
