The Armenia faction considers the investigative committee on church issues set up in the National Assembly unconstitutional and regards it as part of the authorities’ campaign against the Church. Levon Kocharyan, a member of the Armenia faction, said this at a briefing in the National Assembly.

“As for the commission being created against the Church, we consider it unconstitutional, and this whole process launched by the authorities against the Church is unconstitutional. As you know, we also challenged the government’s program in the Constitutional Court on the grounds that any matters concerning the Church simply cannot be considered there, since under the Constitution the government cannot interfere in the Church’s internal affairs in any way. That is clear, and we have expressed our position on this from the very first day and will continue to do so. If there is a need for a street struggle, we will take to the streets. If another form of defense is needed, we will use every form that is not prohibited, that is certain,” he said.
