Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the US response to the seven-point plan on which the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depended was unsatisfactory. According to him, the American side accepted only some of the proposals and left others unanswered.

“We are not giving an answer to the Americans. They responded to us, and we consider their response unsatisfactory,” Rezaei said on Press TV. To end the conflict as soon as possible, Rezaei noted, the US must accept all of Iran’s demands.

According to Rezaei, Iran held three rounds of negotiations, but each time they ended in refusal on the part of the US. This forced Tehran to change its approach to diplomacy, he concluded.

Reuters sources reported on Iran’s “seven-day plan” on September 23. The plan was presented to the US through mediators: Qatar, Pakistan and Iraq. On September 27, Donald Trump, US president, officially rejected the proposal, explaining that he already “fully controls the strait” through which “a huge amount of oil passes.” Iran, for its part, said it would not back down from its demands. Among them are the immediate lifting of the naval blockade, the unfreezing of Iranian assets and the lifting of sanctions on oil exports, as well as an end to fighting on all fronts.
