Lawful premises are being demolished on an oral decision: business owners sound the alarm

One of the shop owners on Shinararneri Street taking part in the protest in front of Yerevan City Hall told journalists that they would not have gathered to protest if they knew they had taken any unlawful steps.

According to the citizen, the local authorities, in violation of prior agreements and legal norms, have begun demolishing legally registered premises.

“We kept quiet when illegal plots were being demolished, but these plots are legal. We had one illegal plot, and when it was demolished, we did not protest. We said, fine, it was illegal, go ahead and demolish it. But we have been paying taxes for our entire plot for so long, and we have all the legal documents issued by the state,” he said.
