Russian composer and producer Maxim Fadeev and Armenian performer Arman Hovhannisyan have presented a joint composition titled “Armenia.” The lyrics were written by Natalya Kasimtseva.
According to Fadeev, “the song is dedicated to a great country and a great people” who have been through tremendous hardships and preserved their strength, faith, culture, and dignity.”
“It matters to me that Armenians and Russians have historically stood side by side. Our peoples fought the Great Patriotic War shoulder to shoulder, we are bound by shared memory, shared spiritual roots, human closeness, and enormous mutual respect,” Fadeev said.
He also shared that the composition was recorded in Russian together with Arman Hovhannisyan so that as many people as possible could hear it both in Armenia and beyond.
“When we were in Armenia, people spoke to us in Russian and welcomed us with such warmth, as if we were their closest kin. That is impossible to forget,” Fadeev said.
Hovhannisyan, for his part, called the duet with Fadeev a gift to Armenia and a declaration of love for his homeland.
