Nelly Ghulyan, spokesperson for the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia, provided insights into the situation of Armenian communities in Israel and Iran.

In an interview with Armenpress, she stated that there have been no reports of victims among the Armenian communities in Israel and Iran amid the ongoing airstrikes between the two countries.

“Only the editorial office of the Armenian Alik daily newspaper in Tehran has been damaged,” she said.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia maintains daily contact with the leaders of the Armenian communities in both Israel and Iran, Ghulyan said. She added that, so far, the office has not received any requests or calls from community members seeking to leave and relocate to Armenia.

“With regard to requests or calls from our compatriots about leaving the country or moving to Armenia, we have not received any such inquiries. We ourselves have been reaching out to community leaders to gather information. There are frequent problems with internet connection, but we still manage to communicate every day, but there appears to be a problem since this morning,” Ghulyan said.

According to her, Israeli-Armenians are mostly in bomb shelters, while Iranian-Armenians are sheltering in their homes.

Leaders of the Armenian community in Iran have informed the High Commissioner’s office that only one or two families are heading toward Armenia by car on their own initiative.
