“One more night of bel canto”: a film about the stage life of Ellada Chakhoyan
Ellada Chakhoyan, Honored Artist of Armenia, opera singer, and international award laureate, is marking the 45th anniversary of her stage career. To commemorate the occasion, a documentary film about the artist’s life has been made. The film, “One More Night of Bel Canto,” which chronicles her rich biography, was produced and directed by Marika Avetisyan. Alpha News sat down with Ellada Chakhoyan to discuss the making of the film.
“In presenting me, we are presenting yet another story about our art. Filming began five years ago, and it required me to visit every country where I had once performed. Then the Covid pandemic hit and everything was put on hold. Thank God, filming is now complete, and we will soon present the film to the public,” the opera singer noted.
According to Chakhoyan, the film reflects the history of Armenian art.
“I was born in Armenia, my artistic journey began in Armenia, and I studied under Gohar Gasparian. Later I performed on international stages. The film presents Armenian art – our story. Today, young artists have the opportunity to perform on stages all over the world. But in our time, to reach the world stage, you had to be the very best,” the Honored Artist emphasized.
