One phrase from a believer, philanthropist and investor was twisted into a pretext for attack — Kaspar Karampetian

The Armenian Apostolic Church is not just a religious institution, but an institution with a deep national tradition, EAFJD President Kaspar Karampetian said in an interview with Alpha News.

“Thanks to the Church, we have preserved our faith and identity. The prime minister and his entourage claim that they are not against the Church, but only against specific hierarchs. But I do not think that the Armenian people are naive and do not understand the essence of what is happening. Any institution stands on the shoulders of its members; the Armenian Church relies on its clergy and its faithful,” he noted.

Karampetian emphasized that with such actions, the authorities will not be able to suppress the free will of citizens.

“The government is in a nervous state, and I do not understand the threats coming from the prime minister. This behavior is not worthy of the head of government, especially when statements are made via Facebook. A single phrase from a believer, philanthropist, and investor was twisted into a pretext for attack. The government must understand that this will lead to negative consequences. The Diaspora must be sure that compatriots in Armenia live freely and safely, we must do everything possible to strengthen the country,” Kaspar Karampetian noted.
