Pashazade should recall statements he signed at meetings with Armenian Catholicoses — Shahe Ananyan

I do not think that we are moving towards peace with such statements, Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, Dean of the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary, told Alpha News, commenting on the statement by Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, who claimed that “the activities of the Yerevan Qaziyat were halted due to the expulsion of Azerbaijanis.”
“Pashazade is not an Ayatollah and has no right to send individual messages. If you consult the relevant experts, it will become clear that a religious organization must be registered on the sovereign territory of Armenia, and if a Qaziyat is created, it must be led by Pashazade’s representative. This creates an unclear situation both in religious and geopolitical terms,” he noted.
According to Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, it would be good for Pashazade to recall when and under what agreement the Qaziyat was created.
“From a religious perspective, Qaziyat is an artificial phenomenon. I would advise Pashazade—who is now speaking with such pathos—to recall the statements and press releases he himself signed at meetings with the Catholicoses of All Armenians from 1993 to 2020-2021, which clearly stated that the Karabakh conflict was not of a religious nature,” Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan added.
