Levon Kocharyan, an MP from the Armenia faction, told journalists in the courtyard of the court that he attaches great importance to the recent meeting of opposition forces and to the four common points they agreed on, despite numerous disagreements among the various forces.

“This gives hope, but we still have a lot to do. Reaching an agreement on paper is one thing; the actions and steps that follow, which are far more important, are something else entirely,” he said.

Commenting on the ironic reaction of Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, to the consolidation of the opposition, Kocharyan said the authorities are trying to portray the process as unserious, when in fact they fear the opposition’s unification and street struggle.

“If you’re not afraid of anyone and see no threat, why are you taking such undemocratic, unlawful, illegal steps, putting everyone in prison? After the elections, the leaders of all three forces, which together won more than 500,000 votes, are now in prison. Are these the steps of someone who sees no threat? I don’t think so,” he said.
