Pashinyan’s task is to destroy Armenia-Russia relations at any cost: Mikhail Khazin
Economist Mikhail Khazin, in comments to Alpha News, assessed the future of Russian-Armenian relations and the real possibilities the European Union offers Armenia.
According to the expert, a person has come to power in Armenia whose task is to sever relations with Russia, and hopes that Europe can compensate for the potential losses have no real basis.
“A person has come to power in Armenia whose task is to tear this territory out from under Russia’s control at any cost. That’s his task, and he’s carrying it out at any cost,” Khazin said.
In the expert’s view, the European Union will not be able to replace the Russian market for Armenia or compensate for potential economic losses, since there are serious geographic and legislative constraints between Europe and Armenia.
“Europe has no borders with Armenia, and Europe has extremely strict legislation. In that sense, it can’t accommodate Armenia. Why should it help Armenia specifically, when, for example, Turkey will also want help? And everything is cheaper in Turkey,” Khazin noted.
As the expert emphasized, the further deterioration of Russian-Armenian relations will continue as long as Yerevan’s current political course does not change.
“A person is in power in Armenia whose task is to destroy any relations between Armenia and Russia. So as long as he remains in power, relations will keep deteriorating until Armenia ceases to exist,” Khazin concluded.
