People drove economic growth through betting, thanks to the World Cup: Kristine Vardanyan

A government representative linked the rise in the economic activity index in June 2018 to bets placed during the World Cup. This was stated at the National Assembly by Kristine Vardanyan, MP from the “Armenia” faction.

“He said that in June 2018 the economic activity index rose by 11 percent – thanks to the World Cup, people drove economic growth by placing bets. Is this the new model of economic growth we’re dealing with now? Driving economic growth through betting? You promised a completely different model,” she said.
