As part of the “What will happen in 2025?Artsakh, Armenia, New World Order”, Alpha News talked with political scientist Arman Abovyan.

According to him, Azerbaijan does not intend to conclude a so-called peace agreement with Armenia. He believes this document will lead to the destruction of Armenia rather than the establishment of peace.

“There is no peace agreement; there is a roadmap for the dismantling of Armenia, which is being negotiated between Yerevan and Baku. Today, it does not make sense for Azerbaijan to sign anything because it gets what it wants without signing. Why does it need to impose any restrictions on the process of dismantling Armenia when today it acts as a free ‘artist’? The Armenian authorities fulfill the demands of Azerbaijan from beginning to end,” Arman Abovyan said.

According to the political scientist, Armenia is ready to surrender the road through Syunik to Azerbaijan and Turkey, which they call the ‘Zangezur corridor,’ but there is an obstacle.

“If the so-called corridor is handed over to Turks and Azerbaijanis, this will be against Moscow and Tehran, which the Armenian government is afraid of, because they understood that they will all be abandoned by the West. After what happened in Syria, it is possible that this corridor will be surrendered due to the fact that the Armenian authorities have not taken any real action. Question: Why hasn’t the Russian consulate been opened in Syunik yet, especially since the authorities promised it? Why was the Russian military base withdrawn from Syunik? Why does this government consider the communication between Azerbaijan and Turkey through Syunik but not consider the communication through Armenian and, so to speak, Azerbaijani territories? You’ve noticed that this discourse has ended, meaning the authorities are tired of sending people a message that they agree to this. But if they hand over control to the Turks, Iran will be outraged; if they hand over control to the Russians, the United States will be outraged, or vice versa, but why should we give something to someone?” the political scientist said.

According to Arman Abovyan, the vector of Armenia’s foreign policy is Turkey.

“Pashinyan’s government is not pro-Western or pro-Russian. It is pro-Turkish and pro-Azerbaijani, being firmly convinced that when they stop being an ethno-political factor, they will not pose a threat. Meanwhile, we are not a threat to the Turks, but the Turks are a threat to us. Do you feel what insidious change this government is trying to make when the Turks massacred us?

The government is not formally withdrawing from the CSTO because the CSTO has a direct connection with the EAEU, and the EAEU has a direct connection with the existence of the Armenian economy. Since the West abandoned the authorities, did not give them economic privileges, and they cannot secure the money they have now, they do not resort to such drastic steps,” the political scientist emphasized.
