According to a report by the Eurasian Economic Commission, Armenia is among the EAEU countries experiencing a rise in public debt. The commission’s data reflects the growth of member states’ debt as of January 2025, compared to January of the previous year.

The report indicates that Armenia’s debt increased by 4.4%, exceeding Kyrgyzstan’s growth rate of 12.8%. In contrast, Russia and Belarus saw decreases of -8.8% and -4.4%, respectively.

Regarding the structure of external debt, the most significant growth was recorded in Armenia (+16.7% in the banking sector) and Kazakhstan (+17.2% in the banking sector).

It actually turns out that Armenia’s public debt is not only steadily rising compared to previous periods, but the country also ranks among the fastest-growing debts in the EAEU.

Of course, when discussing public debt objectively, it is important to consider the shifting proportions of domestic and external debt within the total volume.
