Expanding its presence on international media platforms, Alpha News presents a new episode of its Persian-language newscast, Alpha News Persian. The episode focuses on the formation of the new RA government, Armenian-Iranian economic and energy issues, the TRIPP project, and regional challenges.
1. Domestic political developments in Armenia
Reappointment of Nikol Pashinyan: by decree of the President of the RA, and on the proposal of the parliamentary majority, Pashinyan was reappointed to the post of prime minister;
The 9th convocation of the National Assembly begins work: at the first session of the newly elected parliament, MPs were called on to unite politically for the sake of strengthening the country’s economy and securing lasting peace.
2. Armenian-Iranian relations, energy, and the TRIPP project
High-level economic talks: Hamid Ghanbari, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, discussed accelerating infrastructure programs and expanding transport links during a visit to Yerevan;
Iranian investment in Armenia: an official representative of Iran’s Foreign Ministry visited the Karakert Steel plant, confirming Tehran’s readiness to support Iranian business in Armenia;
Pashinyan on the TRIPP project: the RA prime minister stated that TRIPP is a major regional program, and that Yerevan is ready to dispel all of Tehran’s concerns regarding it;
Gas imports and a new bridge: Armenia expressed readiness to double its imports of Iranian gas, and construction of a new bridge over the Aras River is planned to begin in 2027.
3. Regional tension
Media war between Tehran and Baku: after Iran declared Azerbaijan’s state television channel AzTV “hostile,” Baku responded by blocking the Iranian media outlets Mehr and Sahar within its territory;
The Telegraph on a land blockade of Iran: according to the outlet, the US and Israel are considering a plan to economically isolate Iran by closing neighboring countries’ border checkpoints.
