It is the duty of every individual to do everything in their power to ensure that crimes against humanity such as the Armenian Genocide are never repeated, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan, head of the Russian and New Nakhichevan Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, told those gathered at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Moscow.
“As the Church Fathers have said, there are no dead for God. For God, all are alive. And today, on this sacred day, we held a prayer service in memory of the holy martyrs of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, so as to preserve and uphold truth and justice, to stand against evil and falsehood, and to do everything in our power to ensure that similar crimes against humanity are not repeated. Seeing that today the whole world is engulfed in flames and hatred toward humanity, we cannot remain indifferent. When we see what is happening in the world, in the Middle East, in devastated Artsakh, in Ukraine, how vandals continue to destroy and desecrate our sacred sites, we cannot stand aside. Recognition of the Armenian Genocide is a sacred vow and a testament to every Armenian’s faithfulness,” the archbishop said.
