Rosselkhoznadzor to inspect a number of Armenian enterprises

Rosselkhoznadzor will inspect a number of Armenian enterprises whose shipments to Russia had previously been suspended.

The agency expressed concern over the increasing number of quarantine objects, restricted under EAEU member states’ regulations, detected in quarantine-regulated products arriving from Armenia to Russia.

It was noted that a preliminary inspection and analysis of materials, including photographs, of the imported rainbow trout raised doubts for Rosselkhoznadzor about the origin of the raw materials used to produce the goods.

The rainbow trout declared in the veterinary documents did not match the imported fish by morphological characteristics. It had coloring atypical for this species and an abnormally large weight, over 5.5 kg. This indicates that the fish belongs to another species of the salmon family, or to a different variety of trout, which is a sign of product adulteration.

The farming and sale of salmon is more characteristic of European countries, and such products may fall under special economic measures (sanctions).
