Russia doesn’t trust Pashinyan and demands concrete steps: Tigran Kocharyan

The Russian Federation does not trust Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, and is demanding concrete steps from him. This was stated live on Alpha News by Tigran Kocharyan, the newsroom’s editor-in-chief.

“Moscow’s demand is extremely clear, it is to hold a referendum in which the people of Armenia must decide whether or not they’re prepared to endure hardship because of Pashinyan’s foreign-policy adventurism. Russia isn’t interested in anything else,” he noted.

Commenting on the situation in Armenian-Russian relations, Kocharyan emphasized that Russia’s patience ran out after a series of events.

“For three to four years, Russia patiently tolerated Nikol Pashinyan’s ‘tricks’, his deceptions, his unfulfilled promise to open a consulate in Kapan, and unmet commitments regarding Russian schools. Moscow even turned a blind eye to the European integration processes funded with Russian money. But Moscow’s patience ran out when the summit of the European Political Community was held in Armenia, attended by leaders who have declared war on Russia. What’s more, Zelensky came here and made statements against Russia from the territory of its ally,” Kocharyan noted.

According to him, this event became the “weak link” at which the Russian side’s patience ran out, and there will be no restoring relations with Pashinyan going forward.

“Nikol Pashinyan must either take a step that the Europeans won’t forgive him for, which he won’t do, or the process will continue until there’s a change of power in Armenia,” Kocharyan concluded.
