Russia expects the next meeting in the “3+3” format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and their three neighbors: Russia, Turkey, Iran) on the South Caucasus at the level of foreign ministers to be held in Baku or Yerevan, with discussions on the matter ongoing. This was stated by Mikhail Galuzin, deputy foreign minister of the Russian Federation, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
“We expect the next ministerial meeting to be held either in Baku or in Yerevan. As we understand it, negotiations on this matter are ongoing between our Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues,” he said during the session titled “The ‘3+3’ Platform: Common Challenges and Strategic Partnership.”
“I would like to especially welcome the participation of a representative of Georgia’s expert community in our discussion. For us, as I am sure for all platform participants, Georgia remains an important partner without whom the prospects of ‘3+3’ are unlikely to be fully realized. I hope that official Tbilisi will also join our work in due course,” Galuzin added.
