Russia has increased fish imports from other countries to replace supplies from Armenia, Sergey Dankvert, head of Rosselkhoznadzor, said in an interview with TASS at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Russia had previously imposed restrictions on live fish supplies from Armenia, exempting only two Armenian companies.
“We understood that we would have to introduce restrictions. To counterbalance this, we were opening up supplies from other countries. For example, for trout supplies we redirected to Iran and Turkey,” Dankvert said.
“In general, the more suppliers we have, the easier it is for us to work. Because if we depend on just one, a shortage of some product may arise. That is not the case now, we have a wide choice,” he added.
