Russia ready to help Armenia and Azerbaijan

Russia remains ready to assist in the peaceful normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan but also welcomes independent steps of the parties, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in a press briefing, commenting on the statement by Armenian National Assembly’s president Alen Simonyan.

Simonyan said that Russia’s participation in the normalization process is “unlikely” due to “bad memories” of past experience.

“We have heard statements from Yerevan at various levels that, in fact, there is no need for mediators, both Yerevan and Baku are capable of continuing talks themselves until the finalization of this process. Remaining ready to provide any possible assistance, we will welcome their independent efforts,” the Kremlin spokesperson said.
