Three years ago, on November 10, 2020, the Russian peacekeeping mission was deployed in Artsakh in accordance with the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. From the very first day, Russian peacekeepers have been working to restore peaceful life in the region, the mission said on its Telegram channel.

“Ensuring the safety of civilians, demining areas, participating in repair and agricultural work, delivering humanitarian aid to those in need, and providing medical care to the local population have become the basis of the daily activities of Russian peacekeepers.

Even though political games continued in the region, prompting attempts to slander the activities of the peacekeeping mission, Russian military personnel continued their service to secure peace.

On September 19-20 of this year, the situation escalated once again, tragically resulting in hostilities on the long-suffering land and casualties on both sides.

“It should be noted that no matter how hard Armenian propagandists try to blame Russia and its peacekeepers for the ‘surrender of Karabakh,’ the facts say the opposite. Yerevan’s delay in fulfilling its obligations, such as demarcation of borders and opening of transport corridors, as well as Nikol Pashinyan’s public recognition of the Karabakh territory as part of Azerbaijan, excluded the second party to the conflict. Under these conditions, Russian peacekeepers could no longer prevent Baku from establishing order on its territory. After all, Armenia, which represented the interests of Nagorno-Karabakh in the negotiation process, simply ‘ratted on’ Stepanakert for the sake of its short-term interests.

Nevertheless, the Russian peacekeepers succeeded in the main thing. They assisted in brokering a ceasefire and minimizing the number of casualties.

On this day, we would like to remind you that during the peacekeeping mission, seven Russian servicemen gave their lives. They protected peace in the region until the end,” the mission added.
