Switzerland is ready to help with the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Ignazio Cassis, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Vice President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, said this at a press conference in Yerevan.
According to him, the situation in the South Caucasus, among other issues, was discussed at his meeting with Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
“Switzerland welcomes the positive momentum after the initialing of the peace document, and the peace on the ground. These achievements create the possibility of a stable peace, which is very important not only for Armenia and Azerbaijan but for the whole region. There are challenges, especially in the humanitarian sphere, and we talked about that as well,” Cassis said.
He urged both countries to continue their efforts toward signing the peace agreement and normalizing relations in practice. “Switzerland wishes to help the process if the parties so wish, given the experience we have,” Cassis added.
