Tehran considers the seizure of an Iranian cargo ship by the US military to be an attack and a violation of the ceasefire, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagai said.
Earlier, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) confirmed the seizure of an Iranian merchant ship trying to break the American blockade in the Gulf of Oman.
“We are facing what they call a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. A few hours earlier, there was an attack on an Iranian merchant ship, all of which (Tehran – ed.) considers a violation of the ceasefire,” Bagai said during a briefing broadcast by the Iranian media.
Such steps on the part of the United States, according to the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, are akin to aggression.
He also noted the inconsistency of the US actions and their inconsistency with statements about readiness for negotiations, which demonstrates Washington’s lack of a serious approach to the diplomatic process.
