Tense situation during election of speaker of National Assembly: Mesrop Manukyan warns of violations

A tense situation arose during the vote on electing Ruben Rubinyan as speaker of the National Assembly.

Members of the Civil Contract party did not expect Mesrop Manukyan to take part in the meeting of the Counting Commission. While Civil Contract members were actively voting, Manukyan signaled violations near the ballot box. Speaking with journalists, he said the commission had lost the protocol.

Furthermore, logic suggested that there should have been a drawing of lots, but there were no opposition representatives present, and not a single MP presented identification.

“This is nothing compared to what they falsified. They’re at it again,” Manukyan said.
