The authorities are blackmailing the poor to get their votes: a poll in Aparan

“The RA authorities are lying and blackmailing these poor people so that they will vote for them.” This opinion was expressed by a local resident during a street poll in the city of Aparan, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statements that war will begin in September if Civil Contract is not re-elected in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

“There will be no war. It doesn’t depend on him or on us. He is simply the country’s leader right now, so he says whatever comes to mind,” said another poll participant.

In the opinion of the majority of those surveyed, Pashinyan is using these talking points to suggest that it was he who brought peace, and that peace will be broken with his departure.
