Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a cabinet meeting that the country actively and closely cooperates with the Eurasian Economic Union and intends to continue this work.

“We will continue this work, because we do not proceed from the assumption that something irreversible has happened there and that we should no longer look in that direction,” he said, expressing confidence that solutions will be found.

Pashinyan emphasized that the EAEU is founded on the principles of free movement of labor, goods, services, and capital.

“If that is not the case, then the EAEU does not exist. The Union must give a clear answer to the question: does it exist or not. We say that it does, we believe that a misunderstanding has arisen and that the impression is being created that the EAEU does not exist. But if it says ‘I don’t exist’, what can we do?” the Prime Minister stated.

He also noted that he has questions for his colleagues regarding a decision taken in his absence.

“We need to understand what this means in practice: can any EAEU member state make such decisions with respect to another member state? That is, simply wake up one day and announce a decision? In my assessment, if the answer to that question is ‘yes,’ it means the EAEU is effectively declaring its own dissolution, and we must draw the corresponding conclusions as well,” Pashinyan said.
