During an ambassadorial roundtable held today at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, stated that the European Union does not limit itself to covert attempts to influence regime change in other countries, but openly demonstrates pride in its methods.
Commenting on the letter from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Lavrov noted: “The message says that the spirit of the 2018 Velvet Revolution is alive and thriving, and that Yerevan can count on Europe’s support.” According to the minister, such statements indicate that the EU is no longer merely resorting to behind-the-scenes tools, but is openly acknowledging its participation in orchestrating “color,” “velvet,” and other revolutions.
