Andrey Areshev, a political analyst and expert at the Foundation for Strategic Culture, commented to Alpha News on the sidelines of the 10th International Conference “Russia and the World: Dialogues — 2026” on the likelihood of Armenia’s withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union.

“I think that for now the interested parties will limit themselves to discussing the further prospects of Armenia’s participation in the EAEU. But in any case, final decisions will be made after the June 7 elections, depending on their results. And probably, one way or another, in accordance with the steps taken by the Armenian side in the Eurasian direction over the medium term. I think that in the context of all those sometimes emotional statements and exchanges of views on the matter, one should rather expect certain targeted measures from the Russian side, an example of which is the recent story involving ‘Jermuk’ mineral water,” Areshev said.
