Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova touched upon the resolution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and noted that Russia is ready to provide the necessary assistance to Azerbaijani and Armenian partners in terms of respecting the rights of refugees, preserving cultural, historical, and religious heritage, searching for those missing in action, and exchanging and returning all detained persons.

“Speaking of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in general, which for many years could not be stopped despite various attempts, it has led to a huge number of problems, including immense humanitarian issues between Baku and Yerevan. Within the trilateral process, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia reached an agreement, among others, on the need to address humanitarian issues. The October 31, 2022, declaration says that ‘the sides agreed to make further efforts to urgently solve the remaining tasks, including a number of humanitarian issues.’ We reaffirm our commitment to these agreements. We are ready to provide the necessary assistance to our Azerbaijani and Armenian partners in terms of respecting the rights of refugees, preserving cultural, historical, and religious heritage, searching for those missing in action, and exchanging and returning all detained persons. I am convinced that this will contribute to an atmosphere of trust and dialogue between Baku and Yerevan. There are issues that have not been resolved for decades but have only become more complicated. And these issues did not arise in an instant; they are part of a tangle of concerns that have been evolving for several decades,” Maria Zakharova said.
