Shahriar Heydari, deputy head of the Commission of National-Security and Foreign-Policy of Islamic Parliament of Iran, said that Iran wants to solve the problems of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the dialogue, ParsToday reported.
“Currently, Karabakh is a disputed territory between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The Republic of Azerbaijan has gained military supremacy over Armenia with the help of extra-regional countries and the Zionist regime, but this does not give it the right to seize whatever it wants.
Karabakh traditionally belongs to Armenia. The people of Karabakh had to flee due to the shelling and attack of the Azerbaijani army, but it does not mean that they lost their identity; traditionally Karabakh has always belonged to Armenia,” Heydari said.
Heydari added that “today, the Republic of Azerbaijan has put Karabakh in a difficult situation, with Karabakh being under siege from four sides.”
“If Azerbaijan tries to follow the same path, then it must remain involved in unwanted wars imposed by the Zionist regime, Turkiye and the USA for many years,” Heydari said.
According to him, extra-regional countries seek to exploit the resources of the Caucasus and open new corridors, as well as make the territory of Azerbaijan geopolitically join Europe.
“Since Azerbaijan has not had the strength to wage war against Armenia over the past 30 years, it has given a great privilege to the Zionist regime, the USA, Britain and Turkiye to get Karabakh back with their help,” Heydari said.
