Trump’s decision to strike Iran could spell trouble for the entire world: Oleg Blokhin

Military expert Oleg Blokhin shared his commentary with Alpha News on US President Donald Trump’s decision to block shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
“The initial thinking behind Donald Trump’s decision, and that of those who advised him to do it, is clear: it is an economic strike against Iran. If Tehran is unable to sell its hydrocarbons, revenues will fall, and sooner or later problems will catch up with it. But the issue is that those problems will catch up not only with Iran, it could block everything again in response, and then no ships will be moving through at all,” the expert noted.
According to Blokhin, blocking the Strait of Hormuz will lead to serious economic and humanitarian consequences both in Europe and across Southeast Asia and Africa.
“And what will the Americans do then? Because the problems will start catching up not only with Iran, but with other countries too, further damaging the already weakened image and stability of the Gulf states and of the countries that were buying energy from them. Iran’s approach was to let ships through that paid a toll. If the Americans start blocking Iranian vessels, Tehran will respond by blocking all other vessels. As for how grateful Americans themselves will be to Trump for this, we will find out very soon. Because Europe, Southeast Asian countries, and African nations have all said: if this situation drags on for a couple of weeks, these countries and continents face quite serious economic and humanitarian consequences,” Blokhin said.
