Vardevanyan could bring a new culture to the National Assembly’s chairmanship: David Ghazinyan

There is no legislative requirement to vote “for” when standing on opposite political barricades, but there is another dimension to consider. This was stated to Alpha News by David Ghazinyan, a deputy from the “Strong Armenia” faction, responding to a question about whether the ruling majority will vote for Aram Vardevanyan’s candidacy for the post of Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly.

“Of course, they may not vote for him. But there is the D’Hondt formula, which I call a moral obligation. If you recognize this formula, then refusing to vote for a specific person is not normal,” the deputy stressed.

According to Ghazinyan, Vardevanyan, through his professional qualities, could bring a new culture to the chairmanship of the National Assembly.

“They also need Aram Vardevanyan as a person, as someone knowledgeable, to shape a new culture in the chairmanship. The rest is their choice: if they want to, they’ll elect him; if not, they won’t. For us, however, this will not bring about any substantial changes,” the deputy stressed.
