Official Yerevan has repeatedly tried to dispel Tehran’s concerns, but Iran is urging the Armenian authorities and people to exercise caution in their relations with Western partners. This was stated by Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader and member of the Expediency Discernment Council, at a meeting with journalists in Iran, commenting on regional transport projects, in particular the “Crossroads of Peace” program (TRIPP) and its impact on Armenian-Iranian relations.

According to him, the U.S. presence in the region generally aims to harm Iran’s interests, which could also negatively affect countries that side with the American position. As an example, he cited events in the Middle East and Arab states.

“The Armenian authorities have repeatedly assured us that this project does not conflict with Iran’s interests and security. We hope that is indeed the case. However, we advise the Armenian people and Armenian authorities not to be deceived by the promises of the United States of America,” he said.
