Yerevan does not intend to sever or worsen relations with Moscow, but the nature of bilateral relations can no longer remain the same, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in an interview with Radio France International.
“Among our goals, there has never been, is not, and will not be the severing or worsening of relations with Russia. On the contrary, we want to develop our relations with Russia,” Pashinyan said.
At the same time, he emphasized that changes in the regional situation inevitably reflect on Armenian-Russian relations.
“Regardless of everything, regardless of political leadership, our relations with Russia cannot be the same as they were before. And what has changed is that there used to be a conflict with Azerbaijan, and now there is peace,” he stated.
Pashinyan also confirmed Armenia’s intention to continue its course of maintaining good relations with Russia while simultaneously drawing closer to the EU.
