“We were preparing for track and field, now they’re telling us to go compete in weightlifting”: fish farmer

During the fish farmers’ protest in front of the government building, one of the participants commented on the ban on fish exports to the Russian Federation.
“We know the prices in Europe, the cost of feed, there’s no comparison, we’ve calculated it, it doesn’t work out. Turkey, which produces hundreds of thousands of tons of fish annually, exports only small 120-140 gram fish to Europe. How am I supposed to turn my 5-kilogram fish into a 120-gram one to sell it there? We were preparing for a track and field competition, and now they’re telling us to go compete in weightlifting. We asked the Ministry of Economy to point us to at least one logistics company or driver through whom we could deliver our products to Europe. We’ve been sitting and waiting for 3 months now,” he noted.
