Yana Egoryan wins bronze at the World Cup in Peru

At the World Cup stage in Lima, the capital of Peru, the Russian women’s saber fencing team, including Yana Egoryan, a Russian fencer of Armenian descent, two-time Olympic champion, three-time world champion, six-time European champion in team events, and Honored Master of Sports of Russia, won gold in the team competition.

In the individual competition, Yana won bronze. She defeated Anastasia Shorokhova (15:12), Zainab Daybekova of Uzbekistan (15:13), Larissa Aifler (15:12), and Mariella Viale (15:9) to advance to the semifinals. However, she was defeated in the semifinals by Sara Nutcha.

In the team final, Russia defeated France 45:43. Hungary’s representatives took bronze.
