Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, stated that Russia’s attitude toward the people of Armenia is one of friendship, but that Russia can no longer stay silent about the processes taking place in Armenia.
“Russia has always come to the aid of the Armenian people. Just as now, our attitude toward the people of Armenia remains friendly. We can no longer stay silent about the processes taking place in Armenia,” Volodin wrote on social media.
According to him, it is time for Armenia to make up its mind.
“We can no longer stay silent about the processes taking place in Armenia, where parliament has passed a law launching the process of accession to the European Union. Previously, Armenia recognized the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC), becoming a full member…
POLITICALLY, all decisions have already been made by Pashinyan.
I want to emphasize in favor of building relations with countries that are unfriendly to Russia, that are at war with us, that seek to destroy the Russian Federation and obstruct our development. We supply gas to Armenia at nearly 4 times below market price, at a loss to ourselves (the price for Armenia is $177.5 per thousand cubic meters, while in Europe it is $633 per thousand cubic meters). In these difficult times, we are supporting Armenia’s economy and its citizens.
What do we get in return, Pashinyan’s treachery and dishonorable conduct. This cannot go on. YOU CANNOT BUILD RELATIONS THIS WAY!” Volodin concluded.
