Document, beneficiary of which is Armenian people, is kept secret from us — Anna Grigoryan

Opposition MPs from the Hayastan parliamentary faction Kristine Vardanyan, Anna Grigoryan, Gegham Manukyan, and Artur Khachatryan filed a lawsuit against the government and the foreign ministry, demanding to recognize as illegal the March 14, 2024 decision of the foreign minister, according to which the MPs are forbidden to get acquainted with the draft peace agreement with Azerbaijan under discussion.

Alpha News spoke to MP Anna Grigoryan on the topic.

“We appealed to the court for one simple reason: the document, the beneficiary of which is the whole Armenian nation, is kept secret from our people, including the Armenian MPs. Therefore, to restore and realize our rights, we applied to the court, as the foreign ministry’s prohibition by order of Nikol Pashinyan is illegal. For some time we had an opportunity to see what dangerous provisions this document contained, and we raised this issue. We spoke not about the clauses, but about the possible dangers that the document concealed,” Grigoryan said.

Grigoryan emphasized that opposition MPs were forbidden to familiarize themselves with the document at the request of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“The Azerbaijani side threw a tantrum and, addressing Nikol Pashinyan’s government, said, ‘How dare you show the opposition a document that is under negotiation?’ After that, Pashinyan said in the National Assembly that he had instructed the foreign ministry not to allow opposition MPs to familiarize themselves with the content of the document. This is the reality. How can Pashinyan go and sign something if even the MPs cannot know what is written in this document?

It is also worth recalling that we are talking about the government, which in 2018 stood in the square and said that if any decision was made, it would be discussed with the people. It promised to at least inform the people about a document that they should sign. But today we see that the top-secret Nikol-Aliyev duo is drafting a document, the content of which is kept secret from the Armenian people. In fact, the document is being drafted behind the backs of the people,” Grigoryan concluded.
