Point of no return has been passed not for Armenia, but for Pashinyan — Dmitry Zhuravlev

Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Dmitry Zhuravlev commented on the Armenian prime minister’s statement that “Armenia has passed the point of no return in relation to the CSTO.”
“I don’t think that the point of no return has been passed for Armenia, the point of no return has been passed for Pashinyan. He has decided for himself that Armenia has only one road to the West. And in these conditions, being in a military organization with Russia is a hindrance to him. He has set his sights on the European Union, and most likely, without NATO, he will not get into the European Union either, and being a member of the CSTO and NATO is somehow very tricky. But this is not an objective ‘point of no return’; this is a subjective position.
This is how politics is perceived by this particular politician. Well, what can you do? He is a Westerner; he does not support Russia and is not for an alliance with Russia. It is his right; the people chose him. I cannot say that they made a reasonable choice, but it is their choice,” the expert said.
According to the expert, if Russian units leave the 102nd base in Gyumri, they will be replaced by Western units, while the base itself will remain.
“Russian units will be removed from the base in Gyumri. After that, someone else will have to be invited there because so far Armenia cannot defend itself, as the last war showed. But who this other one will be, the Americans or the French? I’m no judge. But this will not bring peace and order,” Zhuravlev concluded.
