Armenia remains an important member of the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“Armenia has suspended its participation in the CSTO format, but nevertheless, Armenia is still a very important member in both the EAEU and the CIS. Both Armenia and the Armenian people get a lot of dividends from this participation. Therefore, it is a two-way street. Both the CIS itself and our Armenian friends are interested in it,” Peskov said.
The meeting of CIS leaders is traditionally held every year in late December in St. Petersburg. This year, the informal summit will be held at the Igora resort complex in Russia’s Leningrad region, not far from St. Petersburg.
