‘What should happen in Baku is a theatrical performance’: Ashot Ghulyan on trial of Armenian POWs

Speaking with Alpha News, political activist and former chair of the Artsakh National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan commented on the protest outside the UN office in Yerevan in support of the Armenian prisoners held in Baku.
“When it comes to the past, present, and future of Artsakh, it is important that we stand up for the path that we have walked through together, and along this path we have many heroic pages (of course, we have the saddest tragic pages at the end), and among all these pages are specific people.
What is planned and should happen in Baku these days is a theatrical performance. We should not harbor any illusions that a fair and impartial trial will take place in Baku. If this were the case, we would have had less concerns,” Ghulyan added.
According to Ghulyan, it was clear from the very beginning that there was a unique scenario in Baku, and a trial on false, trumped-up charges was expected.
“And we have only one way to counter these ‘performances’: have Armenia respond to all this at the state level. Unfortunately, we have not seen this in previous months, we do not see it today, and it is unlikely to happen in the coming days,” he concluded.
