People can win when united around one goal – Catholicos of All Armenians

Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II delivered a message on the occasion of the Day of the First Republic of Armenia.

“We extend our patriarchal blessings to the sons of our people in the Homeland and in the Diaspora and congratulate them on the Feast of the Republic. Today we honor the memory of the heroic battles of May 1918, the unbreakable will, spirit of unity and valiant struggle of our people, thanks to which the First Republic of Armenia was proclaimed. After centuries of disruption, Armenian statehood was restored on our native land, guided by the vision of building a dignified and secure life and a bright future.

Today, as our nation faces new challenges and suffers the dire consequences of the disasters following the catastrophic war and occupation of Artsakh, the message of May 28 once again proclaims the immutable truth that a nation can triumph when united around one goal, one aspiration and one desire. Our independence is the sacred contribution of our fathers, which we must cherish and continue to work together to improve our country and strengthen our statehood.

On this festive day, we pray for the peace and prosperity of our people worldwide, for the strength of our army, and for the security and progress of our state. May the feats of our ancestors inspire us to believe in our strength, to unite around our Homeland, common goals, and joint efforts to protect our national interests and rights,” the Catholicos said in a message.
